The process of getting a birth certificate is not automated in Zimbabwe. Several times, Dzikwa-children are missing this key document for identity. It can be difficult to enrol at school without a birth certificate and registering for compulsory school exams requires the child to have this document. Having a birth certificate is the starting point for other identity documents.

Over the years, Dzikwa Trust has helped well over 250 children to get their missing birth certificates, as well as digitalised IDs and passports for older students.
